Sunday Love Notes…

So, it’s the Memorial Day weekend and while I am taking some time out, I want to also take a moment to THANK our active duty, former military service members, and the families of our fallen heroes. It takes tremendous strength and courage to do what you are called to do, in general-not everyone does or can heed the call. But, to take up the challenge of military service carries some other level willingness toward sacrifice-that makes you special. So, I for one, appreciate you!! Thank you, for your courage and your service!

That said, as I was prepping this post and thinking I would just go with the standard poem, I literally came across a song that seemed particularly apropos…take it as it resonates.

Me, I’m just validating the love is real…

Music link after the poem (do check out the lyrics on this one)…

LEAPING for Love

Being
Thisclosetoyou
Is
Standing
On the edge
Of the world
Before God
created round,
Surrounded on one side
by all that is earthly, miraculous,
New
And Yes,
God, Yes!
Beautiful…

To my left,
I might step
Into
Firmament,
Weight-less-ness,
Lost gravity
in
Empty space.
Would this place take my
breath away, too?
as I drift
In starlight
and deafening silence?

The unknown makes me afraid.
-Newborn
I am unfamiliar with
Life
Or
Death

Yet…

as this morning
-Breaks
I am light on all sides
Free to possibility…

Feet in place,
Eyes closed
I wait-
just on the edge-
Ready for the new wind
To lead me…

Writer’s Block

Wandering girl,
You begged me to tell your story,
Because you said you could just tell by the look in my eye,
that I loved you..
Could do justice to-all of your regrets…
So,
everything exceptional
about you
I wrote down in black and blue sentences
inside my weathered journal.

You said you liked the way
I lay you down,
Then turned around and
tried to lift you up,
off paper…
Some kind of, snake charming, flute
Player, you said.
Hypnotising,
Something exotic
With your craft
I liked that…
And then, sometimes
When you wanted to
You danced for me, too
Like you did with all those other conquests
That didn’t last…

You would never do that to me, would you, Beautiful? You asked.

My eyes were always on you, while you
Gave away those old stories with your
Body Sway
We stayed locked in the trance, though
Making childsplay
Of something deadly…
You and me
Always caught
Split seconds between song
And silence…
Maybe, a Cobra’s strike
I should have known better…

These days
The music and my pen lie motionless,
There isn’t much room at the bottom of the page, anyway.
So, I’m left with an incomplete story…
Besides that,
I never did ask you your name
And, you never gave it-Beautiful.

Ocean

Holding the line

The last time I saw you,
I could have told you
how you make me breathless…
And, if wishes came true
You’d be all of mine
to an excess
because when you
-enter
a room, everyone else
exits-
I only see you…
Only want to
be yours…
Of course,
If I ever did confess
to all this
space you possess
in my secret heart…
Wouldn’t worlds fall apart?
Folks with self-serving interests,
dressed up in
protectiveness,
Would pull out stops
to crush our start…
It would be too hard and reckless…
Playing all my cards
In the battle for this, Love

Unless…

There is one more hush
I might still confess,
Let you know I recognize a test-
when I see one…

I could have said, all those things
To reassure you, yes
But, then
You never would trust
What your soul already knows
About us,
-would you?

Meantime…
Let me say this,
I love you enough,

And enough,
And enough,

-for the both of us,
to survive the war.
