I have been trying to hold Water In my left hand, Bear this life giving essence Through Our desert. -Reach you With theraindropsI have found pooled Beneath a rock. Somewhere, nothing so precious should be left worth saving, -in barren land But, from the moment I saw you there praying, in the sand Crying out for the storm to bless you, I was moved to Purpose Pressed to gather my weariness About me, Craft, a divining rod with the breastbone of my chest… I was withering here with Wait My ownthirst Buried low, Beneath a dune, of long ago dried promises-harsher than the endless sand, My singular gift left useless That is Until God said, Look,
So, it’s the Memorial Day weekend and while I am taking some time out, I want to also take a moment to THANK our active duty, former military service members, and the families of our fallen heroes. It takes tremendous strength and courage to do what you are called to do, in general-not everyone does or can heed the call. But, to take up the challenge of military service carries some other level willingness toward sacrifice-that makes you special. So, I for one, appreciate you!! Thank you, for your courage and your service!
That said, as I was prepping this post and thinking I would just go with the standard poem, I literally came across a song that seemed particularly apropos…take it as it resonates.
Me, I’m just validating the love is real…
Music link after the poem (do check out the lyrics on this one)…
LEAPING for Love
Being Thisclosetoyou
Is
Standing
On the edge
Of the world
Before God
created round,
Surrounded on one side
by all that is earthly, miraculous,
New
And Yes,
God, Yes!
Beautiful…
To my left,
I might step
Into
Firmament,
Weight-less-ness,
Lost gravity
in
Empty space.
Would this place take my
breath away, too?
as I drift
In starlight
and deafening silence?
The unknown makes me afraid.
-Newborn
I am unfamiliar with
Life
Or
Death
Yet…
as this morning
-Breaks
I am light on all sides
Free to possibility…
Feet in place,
Eyes closed
I wait-
just on the edge-
Ready for the new wind
To lead me…
