Mirage?

I have been trying to hold
Water
In my left hand,
Bear this life giving essence
Through
Our desert.
-Reach you
With the raindrops I have found pooled
Beneath a rock.
Somewhere, nothing so precious should be left worth saving,
 -in barren land
But, from the moment I saw you
there
praying,
in the sand
Crying out for the storm
to bless you,
I was moved to Purpose
Pressed to gather my weariness
About me,
Craft,
a divining rod with the breastbone of my chest…
I was withering here with Wait
My own thirst
Buried low,
Beneath a dune, of long ago dried promises-harsher than the endless sand,
My singular gift left     useless
That is
Until
God said,
Look,

Fire
